Senem Gençoglu was born and raised in the culturally rich Istanbul. Senem comes from a family carrying Grand Bazaar’s culture and spirit with its long history of jewelry making and trading. She spent her summers working at ateliers gaining crafting skills and pursuing her curiosity for art and design during her high school years. Following her passion, she studied Industrial Design at one of the most prestigious art schools in the United States, Rhode Island School of Design, and graduated in 2015. During her college years and after Senem got the opportunity to design and collaborate with world-renowned jewelry designer Sevan Bıçakçı in Istanbul, UK’s leading product designer Lee Broom in London, and iconic Dutch product and interior designer Marcel Wanders in Amsterdam, working on projects for Moooi, Louis Vuitton, and Alessi. Combining her family heritage with her industrial design skills and adding her original point of view, Senem started her own journey of launching KLOTO.
